Watch four minutes from “Terminator Salvation”!

The highly anticipated new installment of “The Terminator” film franchise is set in post-apocalyptic 2018. John Connor is the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future that Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright, a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.

New York Comic-Con 2009: The Wrap-Up

You know you’re on the right bus for Comic-Con when a guy comes aboard wearing a Flash t-shirt…and he’s followed a guy toting two enormous bags in which to carry swag…and then that guy is followed by Darth Vader.

Actually, now that I think about it, maybe Lord Vader wasn’t actually on the bus with me, but he was most certainly present – and in various heights, weights, shapes, and sizes, no less – during the course of the New York Comic-Con, which took place at New York’s Javitz Center from February 6th through the 8th.

Our man Jason Zingale has been our resident San Diego Comic-Con attendee for the past couple of years, but Bullz-Eye was also in the house for last year’s NYCC, thanks to our man in New York, Jonathan Flax. (Granted, he’s often a quiet man, but he’s still there for us when we need him.) This year, however, I couldn’t resist the chance to take in Comic-Con for myself. The San Diego event takes place immediately after I’ve already spent two-and-a-half weeks in L.A. for the July TCA Press Tour, and by that point, I just can’t be away from my wife and daughter any longer; fortunately, the NYCC takes place long enough after the January TCA tour that I was able to feel comfortable heading out of town to attend. It was disappointing that I had to take in all of the sights, sounds, and events all by my lonesome, but lord knows there were plenty of other people with whom I was sharing the experience. I might’ve come by myself, but I was in no way alone.

When Actors Attack: Christian Bale

I’m not usually one to post gossip – especially when it involves actors I like – but this is simply too good to pass up. It’s been a few months since Christian Bale’s last PR nightmare (a stop in London to promote “The Dark Knight” that ended with his arrest for allegedly assaulting his mother and sister), but no matter how potentially damaging that may have been to his career, it doesn’t hold a candle to the actor’s latest escapade.

TMZ has just released an audio file of Bale going berserk on the set of Warner Brothers’ upcoming film, “Terminator Salvation.” Supposedly, Director of Photography Shane Hurlbut ruined a scene when he accidentally walked through the set during filming, setting Bale off on an expletive-laced tirade where he digs in to the guy for several minutes, even threatening to walk off the movie if Hurlbut isn’t fired. News of this altercation was reported several months ago (just days before the London incident, in fact), but real proof of the event hadn’t surfaced until now.

Personally, it’s upsetting to see a guy like Bale act this way (especially now that he’s finally getting the attention he deserves), but if there’s one thing I’m sure he’d agree on, it’s that he’s passionate about his craft. That said, he was also a bit out of line, even if Hurlbut ruined the scene like he suggests. No matter which you side you take, though, it’s hard to deny the comedy of the clip. Check it out over at TMZ, but be warned, it’s NSFW.

Comic-Con 2008: Day Three – Terminator: Salvation

Guests: Director McG and stars Sam Worthington, Anton Yelchin, Bryce Dallas Howard, Moon Bloodgood and Common

When it was announced that McG had signed on to direct a “Terminator” reboot staged in the future, it was met with a fair share of pessimism from diehard fans and moviegoers alike. There was no way the man behind “Charlie’s Angels” could ever make a decent “Terminator” flick, right? Well, after a presentation today that included a rough (but still impressive) trailer cut exclusively for Comic-Con, there’s not a doubt in my mind that those very same cynics are happily eating their words. It’s not that the trailer was so amazing that it’s all anyone could talk about for the rest of the day, but it definitely showed promise for a film that isn’t even done shooting yet. Take that Paramount, and kudos to McG for managing to scrap together some footage to show the crowd.

With Christian Bale away in Japan promoting “The Dark Knight,” McG brought the rest of his cast on stage to discuss the new film, including the possibility of Arnold returning for a cameo, and that pesky controversy over the film’s still undetermined rating. While speaking more on the latter, McG made it clear that the film comes first, and “if it’s an R-rated picture, it’s an R-rated picture.” The crowd seemed pleased with that response, and McG continued to play right into their hands with plenty of juicy details about the look of the film, as well as what Skynet creations to expect to pop up throughout.

Anton Yelchin also spoke on his preparation for the role of Kyle Reese, claiming that he studied the original “Terminator” in order to develop his younger version of the character into who he eventually becomes. Or as Anton himself put it: “I wanted to see him reach the point where Linda Hamilton would sleep with him.” I was actually quite surprised to discover just how much Anton and Sam Worthington (as a new character named Marcus Wright) are in the film, and though this is very much John Connor’s movie, that doesn’t mean there isn’t enough room for everyone to kick a little ass.
