Look what they are smoking

It has been more than a decade that electronic cigarettes, better known as the e-cigarette or simply e-cigs, are warming the shelves in the market, but it lacked presence in Hollywooduntil pretty recently. The portrayal of E-Cigarette on the big screen has triggered fresh ripples across the Hollywood celebrity community and since then it is gaining rapid popularity. Being one of the first realistic substitutes of traditional cigarettes, some Hollywood celebrities have accepted this new assortment and have also stepped forward in accepting endorsements.
“The Tourist,” was one of the prime breakthroughs, where leading actor Johnny Depp was spotted e-smoking in the film. Depp was using his e-cigarette on a train, and on being asked about his smoking in a “no smoking” area, his simple reply was that he was not smoking at all and that e-cigarettes are free from the public smoking ban.

Our other star who has taken the e-cigarette habit and has been spotted numerous times smoking these products on the regular is Model Kate Moss. Lately we have even seen Charlie Sheen, our favourite “Two and a half men” star, working on an endorsing of an E-Cig company advertised as the ‘The Winning E-Cigarette Sheen Safe Smoke.’ From its portrayal it is understood that Sheen has also become one of several partners in the E-Cigarette company.

Amongst other the well-known Hollywood star, Jenny McCarthy, “The View” co-host, have been encouraging the use of Electronic cigarettes against traditional cigarettes. She has also endorsed the e-cigarette brand Blu and can be seen in its commercials. She explains that, now her mouth doesn’t taste like an ashtray, her love life has improved and she feels better about herself. The e-cigs have provided her with a way to smoke without making her feel like a social outcast. This year we even saw Leonardo DiCaprio and Julia Louis-Dreyfus smoking e-cigarettes at the honourable Golden Globe Award ceremony.

E-cigarette is one of the best nicotine replacement products as it has lesser toxic effects than traditional cigarettes. Studies reveal that e-cigarettes are one of the best aid for smoking cessation. It is more effective than traditional pharmacotherapy, mostly because puffing on the e-cigarette gives a more traditional feel and is more effective in dealing with as well as improving short term cravings. 2.7% of U.S adults have tried electronic cigarettes and a staggering 31% of those who have tried e-cigs ended up quitting tobacco based cigarettes within a 3 month period. Estimates are that 45 million people smoke traditional tobacco cigarettes and today the number of electronic cigarette smokers are well above 2.5 and rising.Recently we have also seen, Lindsay Lohan, using the electronic replacement for cigarettes, which we presume is aimed at her smoking cessation.

Other prominent Hollywood celebrities like Simon Cowell, Katherine Heigl, Courtney Love, Bradley Cooper, Robert Pattison, have also been spotted using e-cigs. Read more about Ecigarette here.

The Biggest Gamblers in Hollywood

Hollywood casino

Money breeds money or so they say. Therefore it is no surprise that gambling, placing a bet, having a flutter is a popular pastime for Hollywood celebrities. However, many are not content with a playing small bets online. Here is a look at some of Hollywood’s most infamous gambling cases:

Ashton Kutcher

The 35-year-old is one of Hollywood’s A-list stars, with a string of big roles to his name on both the small and big screens. He has made some pretty smart investments over time too, purchasing a stake in Skype for example. However, he revealed in an interview that he was also operating a sophisticated betting network which cleared hundreds of thousands of dollars each week during the college football season.

Tiger Woods

Regularly ranked as one of if not the top-earning sportsperson over recent years, Tiger Woods is not short of cash. He is apparently a well-known figure around the Las Vegas casino scene, not surprising given his well-publicised party lifestyle. Apparently, the golf star enjoyed a one million dollar betting limit at MGM Grand Casino and often played Blackjack at $25,000 per hand.

Charlie Sheen

The “Two and a Half Men” star has had his very public problems and meltdowns and so perhaps his penchant for excessive gambling is no great surprise. His second wife Denise Richards specified in the divorce papers which she filed that Sheen regularly gambled $20,000 each week, mainly on sports betting. He apparently even set up his own gambling website, presumably making it just that bit easier to place a wager on the big match.

50 Cent

The rapper certainly seems to enjoy having a bet, particularly when it comes to sport. In 2012, he is thought to have pocketed a cool $500,000 on a championship game between the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers. He tweeted that he placed the bet having listened to “the voices in my head.” 50 Cent was also spotted in late 2012 on a high-stakes night of gambling with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. A YouTube clip showed 50 Cent at the end of the evening packing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of cash into a snazzy car.

Ben Affleck

The Hollywood actor and director’s gambling issues are no big secret. He has previously received treatment for a gambling addiction and a couple of years ago he was said to owe movie-mogul Ron Meyer $400,000 in gambling debts. The same rumours said that Affleck used to host his own high-stakes poker game at a high-end Beverly Hills cigar club. However, there is no doubting that Affleck is a talented poker player, having won $356,000 at the California State Poker Championship in 2004, which qualified him for World Poker Tour final tournament that same year.

Frank Sinatra

‘Ol Blue Eyes certainly spent plenty of time in Las Vegas and having starred in the original Ocean’s Eleven movie, he was certainly more than familiar with the gambling fraternity. However, Sinatra used his fame to positive effect, campaigning successfully for an end to segregation in Las Vegas casinos. This paved the way for him to enjoy nights at the casino with his Rat Pack colleague Sammy Davis Jr!

If you’re looking to get a taste of the Hollywood glam life in Vegas, consider first playing Betsson mobile games. Practice in the comfort of your own home or whenever you find yourself in a waiting room and bored. It will give you the confidence and experience you might want before taking the plunge at a poker table.

Inspiration from celebrity engagements

There are so may areas where celebrities and pop culture influence our lives, with style being one of the areas where we see the most impact. There’s nothing like a red carpet event to drive talk and trends around dresses and accessories. The Oscars in particular generate so much buzz, and one dress can have a major impact on style trends.

Of course that applies to things like jewelry and engagement rings as well. Quite a bit of ink (and virtual ink) is spilled on the love lives of stars like Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie. You have photographers zeroing in on Jennifer’s giant rose-cut diamond given to her by Justin Theroux, and then naturally comparing this to what she got from Brad Pitt. You can just imagine the countless woman who searched on diamond and jewelry sites looking for a similar ring and dreaming about getting their own proposal. Just click here and you can search for yourself. Guys usually ignore all this stuff, but it’s wise to pay at least a little bit of attention if you ever plan on doing your own ring shopping. Frankly, these celebrity stories of engagement rings give guys an opportunity to gauge the reaction of their girlfriends, and the smart ones use that info so that they get the right reaction when and if they decide to buy a ring.

Of course, you also have the celebrity trainwrecks like Kim Kardashian, though in some ways we should all thank her. By going so over-the-top with her own wedding plans, and then following that up with a marriage that lasted shorter than some one-night stands, Kim showed the world how absurd some of this stuff can be. Ring trends and fashion are nice things, but people shouldn’t lose focus on the bigger picture. Girls love the weeding fantasy, but the life that comes later is so much more important.

Golden Globes, Taylor-Tina Face Off

Young celebrity relationships are, for the most part, entirely futile. I learned this after Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears called it quits due to a mysterious misdemeanor on her part. The two then carried out a prolonged, dramatic breakup that only proved how perfect they were for each other.

Or take any relationship that Taylor Swift has entered, ever, for instance.

Like children away at sleep away camp, it seems real time plays no relative matter as the two relatively awestruck and dough eyed mini moguls careen into a whirlwind of super love that lands them straight into the arms of the press, and connectedly, the dining room tables of their beloved fans.  What then follows is a few weeks, months, or maybe even years of a picture perfect seeming love affair, time tabled by tabloids, speculated on by the spectators, and consumed by the masses.

Some of them extend no further than dating, some of them manage, at least, an ill fated engagement, and others even make it to the isle. Very few, however, actually stand the test of time.

But let’s face it, most of these romances, much like Swift’s,  end abruptly after a brief courtship due to a minor hiccup of disagreement or miscommunication. We know there are many fish in the sea, and in Hollywood the fish are much prettier, but aren’t relationships supposed to be built on trust, strengthened though tryst, and tested with time?

Of course, arguments can be made that all of society falls into this category; all with the divorce rate soaring at a skyrocketing rate of dismal and depressing. But, in real life, nobody is praised or applauded for holding hands one day, and announcing engagements the next.

More so, reactions would generally be, “Are you crazy? Do you even know what they do for a living?”

This, of course, is not all celebrities, as some relationships have taken on the world and proved love can even be realized by even the most dense of people. Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, for example.

However, it seems that most of these youngsters hop around just way too fast testing out these shiny new toys without actually realizing the heftiness they are holding in regard to their public image, or the message they are sending to their tiny fans. In so much, people will think things, tabloids will say things, and comedians will joke on things.

And if you can’t handle the heat, get out of the kitchen. Or, at least try wearing an oven mitt.

Look Swift,  God knows I’m your biggest fan, and I am only jealous of your optimistic ability to jump head first into each romance, but if your’re going to do it, you have to take the jokes that are coming your way in stride. The world is going to laugh at you, and you must laugh at yourself.

Also, you must never insinuate anything negative about Tina Fey and/or Amy Poehler because they are, quite simply, Gods.

Maybe you’ll think I’m going to Hell too for writing this, but hopefully you can see I am just offering advice as a fan.

I own all you albums, having legally paid for them, and sing your songs off of balconies on cruise ships with my little sister. Who, need I mention, also attended a concert on your last tour as a birthday gift from me. So you see, I am rooting for you.

You’re welcome.
