The Biggest Loser: no chance for skating

The producers of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” are not messing around this season. Any chance contestants thought they had to skate through for half the season are gone, and I gotta be honest–I like it. More on that in a bit.

But first, let’s start with the individuals at the ranch and realizing that Aaron, the 400 pound guy who lost the 500-step competition last week, was let in to the ranch by Bob Harper. Somehow the first part of the show was cut off on my DVR, but I’m so glad that they did this. They also had a soft spot for Elizabeth, who had collapsed during the competition last week. The Biggest Loser: karma works in weird ways

Last night’s episode of “The Biggest Loser” showed the workings of karma, but not the way you would think. It started out with Alison Sweeney giving the contestants a pop challenge, in which they had to balance a tray of quarters with one hand, and for each quarter they would get 10 bucks. The person still holding their tray won that amount of quarters times 10. They all showed that it was much harder than it looked, and after a grueling 45 minutes, Michael won the challenge and with 100 quarters won $1000. Total cereal, the sponsor, doubled that money and also gave runner-up Sunshine $650 for having 65 quarters on the tray. Then CNBC’s Suze Orman, a financial whiz, tutored the contestants on how financial health parallels physical health in many ways. She said how she predicted Danny to win last season and that this season she was predicting Sunshine to win. Then Danny made an appearance and worked out with everyone, and he looks great still!

Danny Cahill a.k.a. The Biggest Loser: good champion, good guy

We were pimping Danny Cahill to win this season of “The Biggest Loser” on NBC all along, not only because he didn’t seem like a gameplayer, but because he was one of the most genuinely good guys and kind-hearted contestants we’ve seen on the show. Well, after winning last Tuesday, we had the chance to participate in a conference call with Danny the next day, and despite only being able to ask one question ourselves, we did get to listen in on the entire call and all of our feelings about Danny were confirmed–good champion, good guy.

There is no nonsense with Danny. He simply followed what he did on the ranch when he had to spend four months at home continuing the program, and he also inspired his wife and countless fans to lose weight along with him.
