Movie studios know what the public likes. At this point, the only threat to a movie franchise is too much exposure and over-saturation. Each year, viewers are given tremendous products from monstrously popular properties. Even with how good options have been in recent years, though, 2018 is going to be special. Clear your schedules; saves those pennies in your checking account; these movies are going to be worth it.
Solo: A Star Wars Story
Fans are just recovering from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, yet the offshoot Han Solo project is right around the corner. Solo is being released May 25. The reason there has been so little fanfare about it is likely an intentional strategy on Disney’s part. They wanted to let The Last Jedi breath and accumulate as much money as it could before covering it up with advertisements and trailers for Solo.
After enough time has passed, expect an onslaught of Solo. It can’t come soon enough. Each of the Star Wars films in this recent reboot extravaganza has been wildly successful and critically well received. Solo should be no different. Directed by Ron Howard, Solo stars Alden Ehrenreich as a young Han Solo, who travels the galaxy with his pal, a young Chewbacca. This sidequel/prequel should give Star Wars nuts some gems of stories they have never heard about before.
The trailer for this one looks interesting. Natalie Portman stars as a biologist signs up for a dangerous, secret expedition where the laws of nature don’t apply.
Based on Jeff VanderMeer’s best-selling Southern Reach Trilogy, “Annihilation” stars Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Gina Rodriguez, Tessa Thompson, Tuva Novotny and Oscar Isaac. It was written and directed by Alex Garland (“Ex Machina,” “28 Days Later”).
The film will be in theaters February 23, 2018.
There are only six episodes left of “Game of Thrones,” and you’ll have to wait until 2019 to see them. HBO confirmed the rumors which will leave many fans frustrated.
It’s surprising that HBO is wrapping up this epic series with so few episodes. Last season seemed to race through developments and shocking turns at such a pace that many fans were left stunned. Now we only get six more episodes to wrap everything up, and we have to wait over a year to see what happens.
2017 was a great year for TV series. For the first time in many years, Game of Thrones was not nominated for any Emmy awards, meaning that other productions also had the chance to shine. And there were many great shows to choose from, too, in all areas, from comedies to action, suspense, science fiction, and drama series. And there were many shows that haven’t gotten any Emmy nominations this year, which also offer a unique and meaningful experience to their viewers. Not to mention that there are still shows that haven’t premiered yet. Waiting for some of those can be a real burden – instead of counting the days or hours to their premiere, why not kill time with some games, like the ones at the All Jackpots?
