Scarlett Johansson to release an album of Tom Waits covers

Is this a good idea? We’re not sure. We do know that the album cover is guaranteed to be very, very attractive, prominently featuring her big, beautiful…eyes…and we give the girl credit for setting the vocal-quality bar very, very low.

We’re not saying that Tom Waits isn’t a good songwriter; we’re just saying that if you dredged a Singing Hokey Pokey Elmo doll up from the bottom of the sea, crusted with months’ worth of salt and rust, its voice would probably still sound more melodious than that of Mr. Waits…so at least Scarlett shouldn’t have too much to worry about on that front.

Tara Reid admits to killing her career

After seeing that Tara Reid was on the cover of US Weekly discussing her boobs and career, I knew that I just had to go the easier route of tracking this info down online rather than actually buying the mag and doing some “reading.” Sure enough, there were many revalations to be had, including her terrific show “Taradise,” which she now looks back on as “probably the stupidest thing I ever did … I didn’t know it was going to ruin my career.”

And how about her boobies? Yep, she regrets that as well saying she wanted a “big B” cup but the doc gave her a big C instead, which she didn’t like. And of course there were her misshapen nipples and all the great stuff. She’s since had the botched surgeries fixed. And how about her acting career? Well, she’ll be starring in a “direct to Web” (god, that’s gotta be worse than straight to video) flick called “Incubus” on Halloween.

Donna Martin ovulates!

Tori Spelling is expecting a child with her new husband, Dean McDermott. Spelling and McDermott are reportedly thrilled to announce their news, as it provides a substantial bright spot in the wake of her father Aaron’s passing and her mother’s inequitable division of the Spelling estate’s assets.

While Tori is saddened that her father will never get to meet his new grandchild, she consoles herself with the knowledge that the man who cast his daughter as the staunchly virginal Donna Martin also died before ever receiving incontrovertible proof that she had actually had sex with anyone.

Youngest Best Actress nominee ever becomes youngest pregnant nominee

Actress Keisha Castle-Hughes, nominated for an Academy Award at the age of 13 for her lead role as a spunky Maori tribe member in 2002’s “Whale Rider,” recently announced that she is expecting a child this spring.

The now-16-year-old actress is looking forward to raising the baby with her 19-year-old boyfriend, Bradley Hull, a New Zealand-area actor whose interests include fishing, windsurfing, and statutory rape.

It’s all in the casting

Burt Reynolds as Indiana Jones? Bill Murray as Batman?

We’ve all heard stories about insane casting choices that never happened (whether the actor turned down the role, or was forced out of it), but they always seem to be the same ones.

Now there’s NotStarring.com, a handy online database collecting all of the famous what-if castings in movie history. Take a minute out of your busy day and check it out. It’s definitely worth a couple laughs.
