Everyone and their brother who’s ever cared even a little bit about “Star Trek” has generally balked at the idea of trying to revisit the original series – Kirk, Spock, McCoy, etcetera – by replacing the original actors with brand-new folks…and, yet, is it really such an awful idea, given how substantial the “Trek” mythos are? Lord knows there’s a ton of material to work with. The problem, ultimately, is that it’s such a given that no-one can fill the shoes of actors like William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, and DeForest Kelley, who each placed such a stamp on the roles. But isn’t it at least worth considering…?
J. Michael Straczynski (“Babylon 5”) and Bryce Zabel (“Dark Skies”) think so…and here’s their modest proposal.

Because everybody wants a piece of Sam’s sweet action, DC Comics is releasing a 2-issue adaptation of the film in August.
And the media juggernaut rumbles on…
Tony Shaloub’s gearing up for the season premiere of his awkwardly funny detective comedy / drama, “Monk,” on Friday, July 7th…and to get the season started right, he’s called in fellow thespian Stanley Tucci to join in the fun.
Tucci and Shaloub are probably best remembered for teaming up in the 1996 comedy, “Big Night,” but they actually worked together in the theater ever before then. They’re clearly a real pair of cut-ups when they’re together; if you can’t tell that from their responses to Bullz-Eye’s questions at a recent press conference – particularly when they take advantage of the moderator’s request that they identify themselves before answering a question – you’ll definitely know when you check out “Monk” on July 7th.

Nah, just kidding. We don’t, actually. But in an effort to perpetuate the myth that we do, NBC is producing what’s basically a good old-fashioned variety show in the form of “America’s Got Talent,” executive-produced by the “American Idol” legend himself, Simon Cowell. Cowell and the show’s host, the even-more-legendary Regis Philbin, did a press conference to discuss the show, and Bullz-Eye.com was able to participate and ask Simon about his personal choice for the panel of judges, to ask Reeg about one of his reported upcoming projects, and to reference a staple of ABC’s “TGIF” line-up.
