Vancouver’s Best Hotspots

The 2010 Winter Olympics drew in a large hoard of celebrities to Vancouver. This was fabulous news for Vancouver’s burgeoning tourism industry. With the number of great restaurants, tourist attractions, shopping, and great hotel accommodations available in the city, the Olympics will be a great way for people the world over to learn about this awesome city.

If you are looking for a nice place to eat in the city, try out the Bacchus. Set in an elegant ambience, with flowers and a good deal of greenery, ambient lighting and a glorious menu, Bacchus can be a great treat for your family. The restaurant has a large canvas of Bacchus, Greek deity of wine and frolic, and the particular attention the restaurant pays to its wine list amply justifies its name. Other eateries of interest – you will find most of them on Canada411 – include Monk McQueens Fresh Seafood and Oyster Bar, the Watermark at Kits Beach, the Seasons in Queen Elizabeth Park, and the Aqua River Restaurant.

Good hotels abound in the city. One of the classiest hotels is the Metropolitan Hotel, which sits right atop the mountains and offers glorious dining, great accommodation and a fine view of the city. Other great hotels include the Astoria and the Balmoral.

Vancouver offers some great shopping to tourists. Some of the best shopping can be had on Broadway Street and the Marine Drive. The Capilano Mall on the Marine Drive and the Kingsgate on Broadway are worth visiting. There’s also the Arbutus and the Denman malls, as well.

Nightlife in Vancouver had something of a quixotic start. Before 2003, bars and clubs were forced to close early, so there wasn’t much of a nightlife. Since then, however, the city authorities have started building up a cosmopolitan nightlife, especially around the Granville street, and the Olympics have worked as an added boost to the idea.

Addictive online Flash games

Shoot, duck, run, jump, go crazy but no one’s gonna hold that against you, because you are online playing a game. Online games are the best thing if you want to get out of your boredom and have fun for free, in the comfort of your home, and at the click of a button. Here’s a quick list of ten most addictive online flash games, in no particular order. With this list we promise you the fun never ends.

Bejeweled: In this, you have to move multicolored gems to create sets of three and if this is not addictive, I don’t know what else can be!

Stackopolis: It is Tetris with a blueprint, only even more cool.

Throw paper in the trash: What could be simpler? Wait until you start playing.

3D Logic Cube: Connecting the dots to form a cube is not as easy as it seems to be.

Line Rider: Definitely the most sought after Flash game. Keep drawing whacky tracks for the stick guy to be able to ride without falling down.

Totomi: You should build a totem by stacking non-matching animals.

Bow Man: It’s not just ‘take an arrow, aim and shoot’. It challenges you to choose the right angle and power before you shoot.

Desktop Tower Defense: One of the most popular Flash games, where you have to set up defense to protect your desktop.

Crimson Room: This is a cool challenging game where you have to escape from a locked room.

Bingo Battle: This free bingo Flash game is as addictive as its real counterpart. Here you have to compete against the computer in three different levels.

Celebrities that have played bingo for charities

Bingo is a fun game, and also a fun way of donating money to important causes. Through bingo, significant monetary support has been given to charities such as Habitat for Humanity, Caring for Babies With AIDS, and Breast Awareness Program. Count in celebrities as fans of fundraising through bingo, too!

Robbie Williams

The British pop star does not only churn out music chart hits, he indulges in 90-ball bingo, too – and often for good causes. In August 2007, Robbie Williams played at charity tournament hosted by ‘Superbad’ star Erica Vittina. He was even the first to shout “Bingo!” that night. The proceeds of the event went to a breast cancer research.

Philip Seymour Hoffman

The Oscar-winner, along with SNL cast member Will Forte and Annie Parisse, once took the role of a Bingo Caller to raise money for a new play by the Edge Theatre, an off-Broadway theatre group.

Catherine Zeta-Jones

Don’t expect to see Catherine Zeta-Jones at your favorite bingo hall anytime soon. Rumor has it that the Catherine Zeta Jones prefers hosting charity bingo tournament in the comfort of her home.

Various Rock & Roll Stars

Are rock bands such as Audioslave, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and Flea closet bingo fans? If they are, we’re not complaining. These bands have hosted rock and roll-themed bingo tournaments for various charities.

Is playing bingo a new trend among celebrities? If it’s for worthy causes, we’re glad to follow. If you believe in the cause that your favorite celebrity supports, you can donate by buying as many bingo cards as you desire. When it comes to charity, there’s no such thing as free bingo.

New Girls Next Door are back on E!

Girls Next Door - image001-477

The new Girls Next Door from E! premieres tonight at 10:30 PM EST. Holly, Kendra and Bridget have left the show, and Hef is sporting three new girlfriends: The Shannon Twins, Karissa & Kristina, and Crystal Harris. They’re younger, blonder and . . . . . oh well, just as boring as before.

Many women love this show (over two-thirds of the audience is comprised of women), so we can expect that to continue even with the new gang. Tonight’s episode will introduce the new girls, and the three of them get together with Holly in Las Vegas. Naturally, the 19-year-old Shannon twins loved Vegas.

As for the guys, one has to wonder if this show has ruined the Playboy fantasy a bit. Sure, the girls are beautiful, and we see plenty of the new girls in the first episode, but listening to their banter week after week makes them less sexy, not more. So while the E! show has exposed the brand to a whole new audience, particularly a whole new generation of young women, it doesn’t seem to click with the audience Playboy magazine needs, which is young men.
