With the summer blockbuster season starting to wind down and studio attention turning toward the Autumn and Christmas schedule, now seems like a good time for a brief recap of some of the exciting new talent to have emerged over the last year.

There is something about this glamorous game that captured the hearts and minds of people from the moment of its debut, and although we have certainly come a long way from the year it was invented by Blaise Pascal, 1655, the world continues its love affair with this iconic casino game. Of course, the fact that it gets represented so frequently in some of the best movies ever made doesn’t hurt either, and this list outlines the very best of these for your browsing pleasure:

Yes, we’re happy! Even straight guys can love this show – who doesn’t like lovely lesbians?
Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moenig and Leisha Hailey are all apparently attached to this new version of the show that last aired in 2009. It will be interesting to see which other stars are brought back, and which new characters will be introduced.
The level of drama on “The L Word” was a bit over-the-top by the last season, so we’ll see how the stories develop.
If Hollywood keeps churning out garbage, we shouldn’t be surprised if fewer people go to the movies.
The domestic box office numbers are terrible so far this summer. Films like “Transformer: The Last Knight,” “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” “The Mummy” with Tom Cruise and Guy Ritchie’s “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword” have all flopped.
Movie fans are flooded with lame sequels, mindless action films and too many superhero movies to count.
Fortunately “Dunkirk” will be out soon . . .
