A crappy disaster remake and a crappy Lindsay Lohan movie. Take your pick.

Actually, I’d much rather go for a second-helping of “M:I-3,” even if it does mean that I have to put up with Tom Cruise’s crazy mug for another two hours. At least it’s not another disaster movie, or another romantic comedy. And while both films have some nice eye candy to stare at (Lohan in “Just My Luck” and Emmy Rossum in “Poseidon“), it’s just not enough to persuade me to spend ten of my very hard-earned dollars. Then again, Touchstone’s soccer drama, “Goal! The Dream Begins,” is probably worth the pocket change, and if you’re in LA/NY, you might want to think about checking out the Brit revenge flick “Dead Man’s Shoes.”

Questions echo, Eko questions

Tonight’s episode was called “?”, and there really couldn’t be a better title. I mean, why exactly did last week’s teaser point to Michael as becoming such an important figure on the island when he was barely in the episode? All he did was cower in a corner hoping Libby wouldn’t awaken and finger him for the murders. And speaking of Hurley’s love monkey, why is it that when people die in they can never utter more than their murderer’s name? “Michael… SHOT ME!” That wasn’t so hard, was it?

Frankly, this second season has been a complete disappointment, and if it weren’t for Mr. Eko and Locke finding the second hatch (covered underneath the drug plane), I’d seriously considering skipping the last few episodes. Thankfully, however, we got a little excitement when the duo entered to discover a live broadcast of the old hatch and yet another shoddy Dharma orientation tape. This one’s a little different, though, and explains the purpose of the new hatch: to act as surveillance on an experiment. Duh, like we didn’t know that was coming.

As Locke said: “we’re just a bunch of mice in a maze, with no cheese at the end.” Huh. That sounds a little familiar, like, say, the audience of this show? Could this just be one giant experiment being funded by Disney bigwig Mr. Eisner? Maybe he’s still mad about the cancellation of “Dharma & Greg”? Could that explain the real Initiative? Probably not, but it’s just as good a guess as any.

DVD shuffle: 05/09/06

Out on DVD this week:

1) Munich – BUY: It’s a real shame that this film was released when it was, going up against other nominees like “Brokeback Mountain” and “Crash” at the Oscars, because it would have had a much better chance any other year.

2) Grandma’s Boy – PASS: Ever wonder why gamers get such a bad rep? This is it.

3) The New World – PASS: I’m not even going to waste my time coming up with something witty to say about this movie. It sucked… real bad. Period.

4) Rumor Has It – RENT: I haven’t gotten around to checking this one out yet (it’s sitting on top of my DVD player as we speak), but I’m confident that it’ll be worth checking out at least once for the cast alone.

Also out this week are special editions of “Ronin,” “The Poseidon Adventure,” “The Towering Inferno,” and “Earthquake,” as well as new season releases of “Scrubs,” “The West Wing,” “Everybody Loves Raymond,” “That 70s Show,” and “The Golden Girls.”

The fox plays nice with the apple

Fans of popular FOX dramas like “24” and “Prison Break” can now rest easy after missing the latest episode of their favorite show: the network giant has just announced the arrival of their library on Apple iTunes.

Along with favorites like the aforementioned series and “The Shield,” the library will also include access to episodes of “Black.White,” “30 Days,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” and “Firefly,” as well as nine more shows from 20th Century Fox.

John Krasinski: The next Zach Braff?

To fans of NBC’s “The Office,” relative newcomer John Krasinski isn’t a stranger. In fact, he’s arguably the best part of the show and is on track to become the next big thing in Hollywood. Along with co-starring in a hit comedy series, John will be headlining two new features in 2007 (including “Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, which he also wrote), as well as appearing in a handful of upcoming films like the Gregg Araki-directed “Smiley Face” and Christopher Guest’s latest “For Your Consideration.”

Fellow NBC alum Zach Braff has already proven that he’s a triple threat with his directorial debut “Garden State,” so it’ll be interesting to see what John can come up with over the next few years. You’ve got at least one fan, John. Keep up the good work.
