Ally McBack On Television

Perhaps jumping the gun on next week’s fall schedule announcement, ABC ordered four new series yesterday, including a drama that stars former “Ally McBeal” actress Calista Flockhart. The family soap “Brothers and Sisters” will star not only Flockhart, but also former “Six Feet Under” actress Rachel Griffiths, soon-to-be-former “Alias” actor Balthazar Getty, and a current cast member of “Prison Break” whose identity is revealed in the linked article (so don’t click the link if you don’t want to know who’s involved).

Other series picked up by ABC include the drama “Men in Trees,” starring Anne Heche as “a Manhattan shrink who flees big city life for Alaska;” “Traveler,” a conspiracy thriller about “three Ivy Leaguers who get caught up in a national security emergency;” and “Ugly Betty,” a U.S. remake of one of the most popular Latin telenovelas of all time.

Here’s betting that Hollywood’s version of Ugly Betty ends up being substantially more attractive than the original:

One can only hope.

Paris Hilton forgets name of Paris Hilton-branded video game

Paris Hilton disappointed her handlers — but made the day of thousands of pale, sweaty-palmed teenage boys — when she appeared at the Electronic Entertainment Expo conference in Los Angeles yesterday to support her new video game, “Paris Hilton’s Jewel Jam.”

“Hi. My dog Tinkerbell is smarter than I am.”

According to reports, Hilton arrived late, greeted the crowd, and then said, “I’m really excited to have my new video game, ‘Diamondquest.’”

Hilton’s business partners in the game launch would not comment for the record, though one anonymous game executive did reveal that he was impressed that Paris “even remembered she had a video game at all” and “was willing to forgo her monthly Herpes treatment in order to be here.”

King of Queens to marry Jester of Brooklyn

In a development that sent shockwaves through Carson Kressley, David Geffen, Tom Cruise, and the rest of Hollywood’s gay elite, Kevin James has announced his intention to marry Adam Sandler…at least onscreen.

Sandler and James will play heterosexual firefighters who pretend to be a gay couple and marry for insurance reasons in “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry,” according to recent reports.

But will the meddling royal family actually allow the King of Queens to marry someone from Brooklyn? And does this make Sandler’s newborn child the heir to the throne under current rules of succession?

Nicole Richie underweight? Say it ain’t so!

In this month’s issue of Vanity Fair, Nicole Richie surprises no one except perhaps her lingering fan base of betrayed anorexic teens by confessing that maybe, possibly, she could stand to be force-fed a bacon double cheeseburger or three.

“I know I’m too thin right now, so I wouldn’t want any young girl looking at me and saying, ‘That’s what I want to look like,'” Richie is quoted as saying. Kudos to Richie for being unafraid to state the obvious. As these before-and-after pictures show, Richie’s frame has slowly dwindled away in recent years, bringing her dangerously close to her original birth weight:

Ever the competitive one, former Nicole Richie BFF Paris Hilton provided an equally jaw-dropping revelation this week, admitting to being just a wee bit too much of a talentless, back-stabbing, fame-crazed whore.

“Desperate Housewives”: the lost pilot episode

You knew it was bound to happen. Even when ABC ran the episode that introduced Gabrielle’s mother, wasn’t there a teeny, tiny voice at the back of your mind that kept on asking, “Hey, wait a minute: Shouldn’t Eva Longoria’s mother be played by Charo?”

Well, that particular ship has sailed, a missed opportunity. But that’s just fine…because this parody of the original “Desperate Housewives” pilot episode sees your Charo, raises you a Jerry Mathers, and throws in a brief appearance by the late Don Knotts as well.

If the actual series episodes were this much fun, maybe the show’s ratings wouldn’t have declined quite so much versus last year.
