James Woods is the new Woody Allen

james
“I’m not a pedophile. Really.”

He’s 59 years old. His girlfriend, Ashley Myrick, is 20…so he’s a full TWO YEARS clear of any statutory rape vulnerability, thank you very much.

And yet, Woods still managed to completely skeeve out Us Weekly readers the world over with this quote: “She has it all: beauty, brains, and charm. I knew her when she was a little kid.” [emphasis ours, for maximum gross-out impact]

Ewwwwwww! Think about that for a moment. Think about being 39 years old, and being introduced to an adorable newborn baby girl by her proud, beaming parents…and then banging that same little angel twenty years later. [Shudder!]

We always thought James Woods was kinda creepy, but we could never quite put our finger on the reason for it. Now we can.

“Star Trek” is totally gay

gaystartrek

Actually, no disrespect is intended by the above headline. I’m a fan of the franchise…and, frankly, I’m a fan of gay culture. I just couldn’t resist when I stumbled across this link (thanks, Defamer!) to “Star Trek: Hidden Frontier:”

Star Trek: Hidden Frontier, an unofficial fan series produced by Rob Caves, has boldly gone where no Star Trek producer, director, or studio executive has gone before. Premiering in 2000, this low-budget fan production kept true to Roddenberry’s utopian vision of the future. However, it also dealt with the complex romantic triangle between three of its prominent characters, all of which are male.

How’s that for a new spin on an old franchise? Now, about that proposed remake of the original “Star Trek” series: Anyone for some hot Kirk-on-Spock action? Or a Kirk-Spock-Bones love triangle?

And couldn’t the lads from “Queer Eye” do a bang-up job improving the grooming habits, uniforms, and living quarters on that pretty little Enterprise thingie?

Awwwwww, yeah!

Jared Leto is the new Winona Ryder

jaredjess

He hasn’t started shoplifting. And it’s not his new goth hairdo–which makes him look more like Clay Aiken via k.d. lang, anyway. No, Jared has been crowned the new Winona because he just can’t seem to keep himself from seducing all the hot new names in Hollywood…no matter where they’ve been.

Granted, Winona mostly restricts herself to grungy musician types (think Dave Pirner, Evan Dando, Dave Grohl, and Beck…among many, many, many, many, many others)…but aren’t rock stars about as Hollywood as they come? And don’t forget, she’s the real reason behind that “Wino Forever” tattoo on the arm of one Johnny Depp, once the king of young Hollywood.

As for Jared, we cut him plenty of slack when he was linked with Cameron Diaz back in the day. Who wouldn’t want to hit that? We gave him a waiver for his dalliance with Scarlett Johannsen for the same reason.

But Jared has also been linked with the likes of a pre-K-Fed Britney Spears; Ashley Olsen; Lindsay Lohan…and, most recently, Jessica Simpson.

The expression “a kid in a candy store” comes to mind…but Jared, just because you can have all the candy you want doesn’t mean you’re supposed to grab the stuff that has fallen on the floor and been passed around the room a few times. Be at least a little choosy. Your body will thank you for it later.

And yet, despite their similarities, Jared is probably the most envied man in Hollywood right now…while Winona is just a dirty, dirty whore.

Boone lives! Long live Boone…

Okay, so he won’t be showing up back in the land of the “Lost” any time soon (except perhaps in other characters’ flashbacks)…but Ian Somerhalder has landed the lead role in an upcoming TV miniseries focusing on the exploits of legendary explorer Marco Polo.

Hmmm…perhaps those seafaring skills would have come in handy back when he was stranded on an island in the middle of the ocean…?

Regardless, we’re just glad to see that Somerhalder seems to be having no trouble finding work…and what’s not to love about a miniseries named after our favorite childhood swimming pool game?

Sheriff Tom Underlay hot on the trail of Michael Scofield

fichtner

While fans of ABC’s recently-departed “Invasion” may weep at what appears to be the final nail in their beloved series’ coffin, fans of “Prison Break” (not to mention “Go”) can rejoice at the addition of stellar actor William Fichtner to the popular Fox drama’s cast next fall.

In a forgivable bit of typecasting, Fichtner will play another law- enforcement official (though a non-alien one, this time), portraying a federal agent seeking to capture Michael, Lincoln, and the other escaped convicts.

Tremendous story potential here, with an actor of this caliber squaring off against the likable cons. In fact, if the writers play their cards right, they might just end up doing for federal marshals on television what Tommy Lee Jones did for them in movies with “The Fugitive.”

One can only hope.
