As if you need one more reason to see “Snakes on a Plane”

This girl is in it.

Elsa Pataky

Her name is Elsa Pataky, kids. She’s an Iberian 29-year-old, and if we’re really, really lucky, she’s the one in that Mile High Club scene they recently shot. Man, her and Sunny Mabrey in the same movie? For those unfamiliar with Sunny Mabrey, that means you never saw “xXx: State of the Union,” which makes you very fortunate. But here’s what she looks like:

Sunny Mabrey

August 18 cannot come soon enough. Elsa, Sunny, Samuel and snakes. Sweeeeeet.

And now for your daily dose of crazy

God bless Entertainment Weekly’s Popwatch for linking to this video of Tom Cruise attempting to get jiggy with it on BET, boarding his inner soul train, doing a new dance that must be called “the motorcycle,” and looking, as EW put it, “not a thing like like the Ricardo Montalban bobblehead on the dash of your crazy drunk uncle’s pickup.”

Can’t top that. Ain’t gonna try.

“24: The Movie” to be a reality

After many rumblings about how a “24” movie was immiment (which were almost always followed by someone bitching about how it was going to suck because it clearly wasn’t going to be a 24-hour-long film), Keifer Sutherland has offered at least one detail.

While on Jonathan Ross’s talk show, Sutherland revealed that the “24” film would be shot “here.” While he didn’t clarify if “here” was London or somewhere in England or, like, the planet Earth, the British newspaper The Sun quoted him as saying that it will be filmed in London, Prague, and Morocco, as well as suggesting that it will be filmed “about a year from now.”

I Swear To God, It’s Not For Me, But… (#3)

Admit it, guys: you’ve laughed at “The Golden Girls.”

You might not call it one of your favorite shows of all time, but we’ve checked with the folks at Nielsen, and they have documentation which clearly demonstrates that, whenever you’re at home alone, you’re flipping through the channels, and you find an episode on Lifetime – and lord knows it’s on all the damned time – you sometimes stop and watch.

Season 5 of “The Golden Girls” is being released on DVD on Tuesday, May 9th. Yeah, I know, if it’s on Lifetime constantly, why buy it? Well, unlike a lot of the bare-bones sets coming out nowadays, this one features several commentaries from the Girls themselves: Bea Arthur, Rue McClanahan, and Betty White. (Sadly, Estelle Getty has, for some years now, been suffering from Dementia with Lewy bodies, which is – God help her – reportedly like a cross between Parkinsons and Alzheimers.) Arthur and McClanahan have a tendency to drift into watching the show, laughing at what’s onscreen, and offering comments like, “We were a great bunch of gals,” but White’s commentaries are particularly interesting and full of trivia…like, for instance, how she was originally considered to play Blanche (McClanahan’s role) but that the producers felt it would be too much like her character Sue-Ann Nivens on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.”

Ah, who am I kidding? You’re not going to buy it…but, y’know, Mother’s Day IS right around the corner. So if you buy it for your mom, I’m sure she won’t tell anyone if you borrow it…
