The Biggest Loser: how bad do they want it?

NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” consistently transforms the lives of its contestants, but that doesn’t mean every one of them really wants to be on that ranch and do the necessary work to change their bodies. Last night we saw two instances of just that, despite what those contestants would tell you.

They began by reminding us that there were two teams, blue and yellow, that had been sent home on Day 1 for 30 days. At his point, it was halfway through the 30 days, and each team was working extremely hard to earn that spot back on the ranch.

The Biggest Loser: a new meaning for “lighter”

Last night on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser,” two contestants were sent home as Season 8 barrels toward the December 8 finale. So just like that we’re down to the final six contestants. How did we get there? Glad you asked…

The show began with host Alison Sweeney greeting the eight remaining hopefuls, and that always means they are about to find out how the game is changing. Would she tell them it’s back to black vs. blue again? Well no, things don’t change that fast, even on this show. NBC loves to mess with us when it comes to “The Biggest Loser.” Once again, the teams were broken up and it is now an individual competition again, as the show began with host Alison Sweeney giving each contestant the color t-shirt they began this season with, and then having them pick which trainer they wanted to work with the rest of the way. That is, until she threw another twist at them. This season is “The Biggest Loser: Couples,” but the show never gives you what it promises. Okay, so it’s an individual competition again. But next week they will change it up again. It’s maddening, and if I wasn’t asked to write this blog, I probably wouldn’t watch the show anymore.

Anyway, the contestants went through the process of choosing their trainer as if it was a life and death decision. At least that’s what these lovely producers of the show wanted to portray. I realize Jillian has a winning track record and Bob is the nice guy, but come on. Tara, Mike, Laura and Helen all chose Jillian while Kristin, Filipe, Sione, Ron and Aubrey chose Bob.
