Award season kicking into high gear

The end of the year is upon us, and at this time everyone in Hollywood starts gearing up for the award shows. Who will be nominated and who will win? Everything culminates with the Oscars, but there are tons of other important awards as well. We just heard from the Golden Globes who announced their nominations. So far “The Artist” has been the huge hit that is generating the most buzz.

As these initial award shows release their nominations, we start to get a better idea of who might be nominated and then ultimately win the Academy Awards. But, of course there are always surprises. Predicting this stuff can be tricky.

Because of that, fans have a field day with office pools and other ways to guess who will be nominated and who will win. There are tons of websites now devoted simply to information and gossip of which film, which starlet and which director might get the final nod.

Stuff the the award shows fuel entertainment betting which has become more and more popular. Everything in entertainment is fair game, from box office winners, Blu-ray sales to which song Madonna will lead with at the Super Bowl.

With the holidays around the corner it’s always fun to find new and unique ways to send holiday messages.

Howard Stern joins “America’s Got Talent”

Howard Stern makes the official announcement that he will be a judge next year on “America’s Got Talent.” Stern’s return to NBC should be epic and will bring him back as a front-line celeb. His satellite show is excellent, but he doesn’t have the reach he used to have. Joining this show will make him a huge star again.

“Charlie’s Angels” may not have been a hit in 2011, but the classic “Charlie’s Angels” look can be a great inspiration if you’re looking for a costume for your theme party. All of us remember the hotties from the original 70s show: Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett-Majors, Jaclyn Smith, Cheryl Ladd (pictured here), Shelley Hack and Tanya Roberts. The first four in particular were icons back in the 70s, and their look is still admired by women and men everywhere.

So if you’re buying a 70’s outfit, you can’t go wrong looking at old photos of these beauties for inspiration. Now, if you’re looking for cool 80’s costumes you need a completely different perspective. Maybe you can rent old episodes of Dallas for the shoulder pads and big hair.

Both eras are very fun, but the 70s offered a sexier look. The clothes and dresses really showed off a woman’s figure, unlike some of the baggy looks of the 80s. That said, if you’re going with the 80s, you can always go with the Madonna look and wear some lingerie over your clothes. It’s tacky, but it’s also hot!
