Where are all my shows?

I can sort of understand not running new episodes Thanksgiving weekend (though I thought CSI’s disgusting new episode on Thanksgiving night was a stroke of brilliance) but why aren’t we getting new episodes of our favorite shows the first three weeks of December? Sure, we’re getting new episodes here and there – thanks to “The West Wing” and “Arrested Development” – but many shows are on hiatus. Is there some study somewhere that says that people don’t watch television in early December? I sure as hell do.

It’s TIME for your favorite SHOW again… maybe

News on the entertainment block is that premium channel “Showtime” is currently in negotiations with 20th Century Fox to pick up the Emmy Award-winning “Arrested Development” after getting the axe midway into its third season. Sources have indicated that Showtime is merely just showing interest at this time – since it requires a “big financial commitment” to keep the show’s large ensemble cast – but if the show does return, it will be Fox’s third official fuck-up of the past year; “Family Guy” recently returned to the air and “Firefly” was turned into a feature-length film.

I have to admit, Showtime was probably my last choice for “Arrested” to land (HBO or NBC would have been sweeter), but I’m confident that most fans will just be happy to know that it’s chances of returning are much better than first led to believe.

How many more times can Jack save the world?

With the recent release of the the fourth season of “24” on DVD, and the upcoming fifth season set to begin in early January, it seems like the perfect time to talk about the future of the series. Coming off the show’s best season since it’=s debut, it’ll be interesting to see if season five lives up to the giant expectations of the series’ dedicated fan base. It’s no secret that Jack will return to CTU in some capacity this year, but how will he do it this time? I mean, it’s not like he faked his own death and moved out of the country just for the hell out it. The President of the U.S. wanted him dead for Christ sakes! And even if the show does do as well as last season, will it manage to remain at top of Bullz-Eye.com‘s TV Power Rankings. This past summer’s first-ever rankings had “24” as the number one show by a big gap. Can it pull of this same feat again?

I brake for Esteban and the Magic Bullet.

I can’t stand infomercials. Who can? But I can’t help but fall right in line when it comes to watching the spots for Esteban’s guitar and the Magic Bullet. Give it up for Esteban, anyway, since he was recently even in a Geico commercial. If I didn’t already know how to play E-Z guitar the Mel Bay way (sorry, E, but you’ve got nothing on Mel), I might plunk down for your set, including that awesome chord poster I can hang on my wall and display proudly.

The Magic Bullet’s another story. Who wrote this thing? Why is there a a female Jerseyite in grandma glasses sitting around in her bathrobe smoking at this Magic Bullet party? Doesn’t she know it’s rude to smoke around food before everyone gets blotto? Especially when it’s freshly prepared food in the Magic Bullet! God, but I do so want to make chicken salad in one – two – three seconds! Amazing! Or how about frozen drinks with color coded lids so everyone knows which drink is theirs? Awesome! Now granted you can buy this contraption at Walgreen’s and other fine stores, but they don’t carry the Bullet Blender, which you can still only get as part of the infomercial…

…and why does “Magic Bullet” sound like a sex toy?
