Shhhh. Don’t talk. Just watch. And try not to drool.

While all the Trekkies or Trekkers or whatever the politically-correct term is are experiencing simultaneous excitement and apprehension at what the next “Star Trek” film is going to be like (and writer J.J. Abrams is offering virtually nothing in the way of information about what to expect, which isn’t helping any), several fans are basically saying, “Ah, screw that,” and taking things into their own hands. Even more impressively, they’ve scored the assistance of Walter Koenig (Chekov), Nichelle Nichols (Uhura), and Alan Ruck (Captain Harriman in “Star Trek: Generations,” but you probably know him better as Cameron from “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”). Check out the trailer for the upcoming flick; I have to say, while I know the budget can’t be but so much – and most of it almost certainly went to secure the cast – it really looks pretty good.
I love the “Saw” movies in spite of myself. They tap into the true nature of horror in that it’s more about what they suggest than what they show, and that is why they are so repulsively exhilarating.
Well, for the first two movies, anyway.
I just received this clip of what is presumably the opening scene of “Saw III,” and it is without a doubt the most gruesome thing I’ve seen in years, even worse than the vile “Hostel.” But you tell me, are the “Saw” movies just kinky thrills, or have these torture chic movies officially crossed the line between entertainment and snuff? Watch the clip, if you dare, and tell me your thoughts.
…but not too ashamed to cash the check.
“Jackass 2” hits the theaters next month (I just interviewed Steve-O last week, and that was illuminating, let me tell you), and so we present to you Johnny Knoxville & Co. dutifully subjecting their bodies to bodily harm the way a prostitute hands her body over to anyone willing to pay the price. Still, you can’t wait to see it, can you? Freak.
Kidding. I can’t wait to see it, either. The Firehose Rodeo clip is a hoot, but don’t miss Johnny’s encounter with a yak, either.

After seeing the trailer for Joe Carnahan’s new action/comedy feature, “Smokin’ Aces,” I’m officially intriqued. What looks to be a mix between “Kill Bill,” “True Romance” and “Rounders” also boasts one of the coolest casts to date, including Ben Affleck, Jason Bateman, Peter Berg, Andy Garcia, Ray Liotta, Ryan Reynolds and Jeremy Piven.
