Neidermeyer still can’t control a toga party to save his life

A party at the Libby Montana restaurant in Mequon, Wisconsin – owned by actor Mark Metcalf, who played Neidermeyer in the classic comedy “Animal House” (not to mention a stern, disapproving adult in two separate Twisted Sister videos) – got so darned rowdy that the authorities had to be called.

In an article on the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel website, it was reported that, “According to a police report, one officer found what ‘appeared to be a pair of male feet and a pair of what appeared to be female feet’ inside a stall in the women’s restroom. The male feet were those of an 18-year-old Whitefish Bay man who was sitting on the toilet wearing only ‘tennis shoes and a bathrobe.’ He had vomited on himself and did so two or three more times before his parents arrived to pick him up, the report says. The bathrobe, apparently, was this man’s version of a toga.”

Now that’s a party.

Re-Imagining “Trek”: The REAL Final Frontier…?

Everyone and their brother who’s ever cared even a little bit about “Star Trek” has generally balked at the idea of trying to revisit the original series – Kirk, Spock, McCoy, etcetera – by replacing the original actors with brand-new folks…and, yet, is it really such an awful idea, given how substantial the “Trek” mythos are? Lord knows there’s a ton of material to work with. The problem, ultimately, is that it’s such a given that no-one can fill the shoes of actors like William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, and DeForest Kelley, who each placed such a stamp on the roles. But isn’t it at least worth considering…?

J. Michael Straczynski (“Babylon 5”) and Bryce Zabel (“Dark Skies”) think so…and here’s their modest proposal.

Boone lives! Long live Boone…

Okay, so he won’t be showing up back in the land of the “Lost” any time soon (except perhaps in other characters’ flashbacks)…but Ian Somerhalder has landed the lead role in an upcoming TV miniseries focusing on the exploits of legendary explorer Marco Polo.

Hmmm…perhaps those seafaring skills would have come in handy back when he was stranded on an island in the middle of the ocean…?

Regardless, we’re just glad to see that Somerhalder seems to be having no trouble finding work…and what’s not to love about a miniseries named after our favorite childhood swimming pool game?

Box Office Roundup: Nacho business donkey wrestler

Based on Sunday’s estimates, courtesy of boxofficemojo.com:

1) Cars: $31.1 million ($114.5 million, second week)
The good news: it held the #1 spot for two weeks. The bad news: it fell off 48% from its opening week. The word is getting out: Pixar laid its first egg. Go see “Over the Hedge” again instead.
2) Nacho Libre: $27.5 million (first week)
For God’s sake, is anyone going to make a decent movie this month?
3) The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift: $24 million (first week)
Two movies in the top five about racing, and “Talladega Nights” is on the horizon. It’s a great big NASCAR world.
4) The Lake House: $13.6 million (first week)
Or, “Give the audience a happy ending, no matter how implausible or insulting it may be.”
5) The Break-Up: $9.5 million ($91.9 million, third week)
Chicago deserves to have better movies shot there than “The Lake House” and this.

Only two months to the day until “Snakes on a Plane.” And still no trailer. They’re killing us.
