Tommy Lee wants you in his pants

Who’s got the looks that kill? Turns out it’s not Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil; it’s drummer Tommy Lee. Lee is in the process of launching a new clothing line, dubbed People’s Liberation for Tommy Lee — or “PL for TL” for short:

The limited PL for TL line will mostly consist of jeans, T-shirts and hats for men and women, with imagery from the rocker’s many tattoos reflected throughout the graphics and detailing. The jeans, which come in skinny, straight-leg, super-low, and boot-cut styles, feature back-pocket images that include a skull wearing a top hat, a dragon, a lotus flower and a koi fish as well as Lee’s signature.

The fashion line will launch at Bloomingdale’s stores and specialty boutiques nationwide beginning in September, and an optimistic buyer for Bloomie’s predicts a sellout. Should that happen, those who miss out on Tommy Lee’s jeans will have to console themselves with a pair from Buddy Lee instead.

Is Geddy Lee missing an opportunity here, perhaps?

At last, someone follows my advice on how to deal with Ann Coulter…

…but who knew it would be Adam Corolla?

Ann Coulter
“Sowing the seeds of love, seeds of love…”

I’ve seen friends of mine just become overwhelmed with rage when talking about conservative lightning rod Ann Coulter, and I tell them all the same thing: THAT’S WHAT SHE WANTS. If you ignore her, maybe she’ll eventually just go away. Well, Adam Corolla did the next best thing on his radio show (major props for having my girl Lisa Lampanelli on as his guest), when Ann called in an hour and a half late, then proceeded to tell Adam that she was running tight on time:

He hung up on her, right on the spot, while Coulter was in mid-sentence.

Crooks and Liars is hosting an audio clip of the song here. Make sure to keep listening for the one-liner his female partner gets in towards the end. I never thought I’d say this, but there is much to learn from Corolla’s good example.

If you listen closely, you can hear Flavor Flav weeping…

Brigitte Nielsen – who was destined to remain a long-legged, large-breasted footnote of the ’80s until she scored an extra 15 minutes of fame by appearing on “The Surreal Life” – has married for the 5th time.

The “lucky” fellow this time around is one Mattia Dessi, who’s listed in the Yahoo! article about the marriage as a “former model”; he must not have been a very good one, however, since Nielsen’s Wikipedia entry refers to Dessi as a barman. From model to bartender to a has-been’s boy toy. Gee, is that moving up or down the corporate ladder…?

Box Office Roundup: Ahhhhrrrrr.

Based on Sunday’s estimates, courtesy of boxofficemojo.com:

1) Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest: $132 million (first week)
Ho, ly, shit. A new record. Enjoy it while you can, Disney; your movie stinks, and next week, despite your only new competition being “You, Me and Dupree” and “Little Man,” you’re going to experience a maaaaaaaajor league dropoff. You know, sort of like…
2) Superman Returns: $21.9 million ($141.7 million, second week)
Oh yes, there will be blood on the Warner Brothers studio floor.
3) The Devil Wears Prada: $15.6 million ($63.7 million, second week)
Fox, on the other hand, is going to triple their money on this little number. Rupert Murdoch takes the proceeds and decides to buy Mexico, renaming it Upper Australia.
4) Click: $12 million ($105.9 million, third week)
Of course, if we had that universal remote, our first choice would have been to erase “Little Nicky” from existence.
5) Cars: $10.3 million ($205.5 million, fifth week)
I had a guy tell me this weekend that the reason I didn’t like “Cars” was because I didn’t “get” it, because I’m not rural enough. It took all of my strength not to laugh at him.

President I.M. Weasel and First Lady of Crazy get their due

In recognition for one of its tightest seasons yet, Fox drama “24” was honored with 12 Emmy nominations today — the most for any broadcast network series. In addition to the obligatory noms for best drama and best actor, the show recognized strong supporting performances from Gregory Itzin as President Buck Buck Brawwk and Jean Smart as the mildly unstable First Lady.

Other nomination highlights:

– In contrast to last year’s near-sweep of the Best Actress in a Comedy category, the “Desperate Housewives” gang was nearly shut out, with only token African-American resident Alfre Woodard picking up a nod for her supporting role as Betty Applewhite.

– Despite winning Best Drama last year, “Lost” was not even nominated in the category this go-round…and neither were any of its regular cast members. Only guest actor Henry Ian Cusick was nominated, for his work as redemption-seeking, six-degrees-of-separation hatch-minder Desmond.

– “House” is one of the five best dramas on television…but that apparently has nothing to do with its Golden Globe winning star Hugh Laurie, who was overlooked in the Emmy nods.

– Cancelled shows are all the rage this year. Nominated shows that are no longer in production include “Arrested Development,” “Huff,” “The West Wing,” “The Comeback,” ” Will & Grace,” and “Six Feet Under.”

– Denis Leary earned a nod for his work in “Rescue Me,” presumably as a result of new nomination rules intended to broaden the field. Leary will likely be whacked by snubbed actor James Gandolfini from “The Sopranos.”

– “Grey’s Anatomy” also received an encouraging number of nods this year, with 11, including Best Drama. Sandra Oh and Chandra Wilson will battle it out within the Supporting Actress category for their roles as intern Cristina Yang and resident Miranda Bailey; my money’s on the feisty Bailey for that one.

The awards ceremony will air on NBC the evening of August 27, with Conan O’Brien to host. Click here for access to a complete list of nominees.
