Laugh of the Day: “How To Survive A Horror Movie”

If you aren’t familiar with Seth Grahame-Smith, there’s no better time than Halloween to discover the work of the man responsible for DodgeTheKills.com. Not long ago, Grahame-Smith published his book, HOW TO SURVIVE A HORROR MOVIE: ALL THE SKILLS TO DODGE THE KILLS; now, he’s taken portions of the text and made instructional films.

Here’s one of my favorite lessons: “Seven Things To Never, Ever, Ever Put In A Child’s Room.”

Man, I hate cymbal monkeys.

Anyway, go check out this flick and others over at DodgeTheKills.com and have several good laughs on me.

Elizabeth Banks heats up GQ

With babes like Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel making the pages of GQ sizzle earlier this year, it didn’t seem possible that another Hollywood hottie had the goods to top such drool-worthy photo shoots. Imagine our surprise when we discovered that the magazine’s latest gallery not only does just that, but that the woman standing in the frame is none other than Elizabeth Banks.

Known more for her comic presence than her looks, Banks is certainly the wild card GQ needed to surprise its readers, and it’s nice to see the up-and-coming actress finally embracing her sexuality, as well as getting a little risqué for the camera. Banks is currently out promoting her appearance as the “Mistress of Elves” in the new holiday-themed film “Fred Claus,” but she’s got plenty in the pipeline, including a return to the small screen in the final season of NBC’s “Scrubs.”

Click here to view the full slideshow of pictures (as well as a brief feature with Elizabeth), and don’t forget to pick up the November issue when it streets next week.

Tschochkes gone wrong: if you want to curry favor with film critics…

…send them booze. If you can’t send them booze, then for God’s sake, don’t send them something like this.

Heartbreak Kid Pillow

This arrived at my doorstep yesterday, and my first thought was: are you kidding me? Who on earth wants a pillow featuring Ben Stiller’s likeness, with the possible exception of his mother? I already had a bad, bad feeling about “The Heartbreak Kid,” and it was confirmed when one of our stringers covered the press round table discussion earlier this week (which Ben Stiller did not attend), and informed us that the movie was, well, awful.

I’m not sure whether to put this up for sale on eBay or throw it away. Or set it on fire. Any suggestions?
