The best scene from Halloween III

Halloween III Season of the Witch has never got its due. Too many fans bitch about there being no Michael Myers in the flick, but the original intent of the series was not to have him as the manin focus, anyway. So the third installment came out as it was intended and…well, OK it wasn’t that good, but it’s bad hilarious. The following is the best scene from the movie, but unfortunately it cuts before the dad gets bitten by the snake. Damn it all.

ABC the whore

Back in the ’70s, the ABC network incorporated the current hit “Still The One” by Orleans and co-opted it as their new slogan. They even went so far as to make a two-and-a-half-minute clip using their own version of the song pimping out all their hit shows with all the stars of said shows making cameos. Look, it’s Tom Bosley! Hal Linden’s in the big balloon! Sadly, I remember this promotional campaign. It even extended into the local network affiliates where various locals were shown holding up their index fingers in a #1 symbol as “Still The One” played in the background. Truly wretched. I would love to see a network make a new one of these promos. Can you imagine the possibilities?

“Runaway” gets the axe

Dig it. “Runaway”, a show on The CW has officially been canned. So say the fine people at Brilliant But Cancelled. It’s the latest show to die on their deathwatch game. I didn’t even know about this show, but then again I don’t tend to watch The CW. For those of you who are morbidly curious now that this news has been issued, the show’s premise was as follows:

The Raders look like a normal middle-class American family, with a dad, Paul, his lovely wife Lily, teenagers Henry and Hannah and 8-year-old Tommy. Those are their real names, but as they struggle to blend into a new life in Bridgewater, Iowa, they are all using secret identities. This family is on the run, hiding from the legal system that unjustly accused Paul of a terrible and violent crime. Adding to the danger, the real killer is now threatening the lives of the Rader children. As Paul works to protect his loved ones and uncover the evidence that will clear him, he lives with the daily fear that someone will accidentally reveal the family’s dark secret.

Yeah, too damn convoluted even for such a fresh “new” network.
