Speaking of cable TV when I was a lad, I remember torturing myself by watching “Pinwheel” for some reason. I was already too old for it, but something about how…bad it was just magnetized me. You can’t trust a show that has a mime as a main character, kids. This show was in the same league as “Today’s Special” when it came to cringe-worthy acting.

And now…a Showtime cable network bumper from the late ’70s. Hey kids, remember cable when it was in its infancy and everything seemed so fresh, exciting, and entertaining? No? Ah that’s right, I keep forgetting that many of ye were born too late for the groove. Dig it.
Get ready for a future letdown of Anime fans everywhere; Leonardo DiCaprio has signed on to produce a live-action version of the classic Anime hit “Akira.” It has apparently been a project DiCaprio has ben wanting to tackle a long time now, with the usual rights to the licenses being tied up. Of course, changes will be made, the first of which will feature the story being set in New York City and not Tokyo. Yeah. You know, the nice thing about Anime is that it is distinctly Japanese, even when Western pop culture is incorporated into the stories. In this writer’s opinion, it shouldn’t be tinkered with (let alone made into a live action movie). Fans would go to see it, yet undountedly the fear that the majority of American movie goers not “getting” it if it wasn’t tweaked and set in their homeland is the engine pulling the train here. Too bad.
Will Smith received an apology and won a sum of undisclosed damages stemming from an erroneous claim that he said Adolf Hitler was “a good person.” The comments were originally published in the Scottish Daily Record. An apology had initially been written up, but never actually published. This has since been corrected and the monetary damages won are being donated to charity.
Delta Burke will be appearing on “Entertainment Tonight” next Thursday and Friday to talk about her long battle with depression. Burke admitted herself into a spychiatric hospital in January. She says she’s been dealing with the problem since kindergarten. Apparently, she also has a problem with hoarding, but that’s undoubtedly another story for another episode of tabloid TV.
