Keri Russell to deliver impeccably coiffed infant

“Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful. Hate me for ever cutting my hair.”

The former “Felicity” star and her fiancé, contractor Shane Deary, are expecting their first child this summer, People magazine reports. No word yet on a specific due date or on the child’s gender…but rest assured that, boy or girl, the newborn will emerge from the womb with blindingly beautiful hair, instantly winning the hearts of all who survey it.

However, following its first haircut, the child will be completely ignored.

“Dammit!”: Jack Bauer taken out by indestructible cheerleader

Wondering what was going to happen when NBC’s freshman sensation “Heroes” went up against sixth-year senior “24” in one of the toughest matchups on television?

Wonder no more: According to Nielsen ratings released today, Bauer and the CTU crew suffered a clear-cut loss at the hands of the hardy mutants, with Fox trailing NBC by more than a full rating point in the key audience demographic for the 9pm time slot Monday night.

On the bright side, Bauer dipped just 9% vs. his strong fifth-season performance, and those figures will undoubtedly improve once delayed viewing is incorporated. Not bad for a guy who’s had several exceedingly bad days, very little sleep, and is now facing superhuman competition.

Life’s pretty good when your sloppy seconds come from Leo DiCaprio

Having recently parted ways with “I, Robot” actress Bridget Moynahan, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is now apparently mending his broken heart with none other than Brazilian Supermodel (and ex-DiCaprio arm candy) Gisele Bundchen.

Oh, and he’s competing in the AFC Championship game again this weekend. For, you know, the eleventh time in six years, or whatever.

And all across this great land, whenever Brady’s face appears on television, men of all ages quietly mutter, “I hate that guy.” And then they sigh, and take another sip of their beer.

Would you dare harass this man’s daughter?

Nah, me neither…but that didn’t stop 21-year-old Daniel Snee from threatening ex-girlfriend Amanda Sorvino, causing concerned father (and former Goodfella) Paul Sorvino to show up on the scene brandishing a gun:

Amanda Sorvino testified Snee threatened to kill her at a hotel Jan. 3 in Stowe, Vt.; she said she locked herself in the bathroom and called both police and her father. Her 67-year-old father showed up before police, she testified. […]

“He got in my father’s face and said, ‘Go ahead, Paul, shoot, I ain’t done nothing wrong,'” Amanda Sorvino, 36, told a Monroe County judge. The judge granted her request for a protection-from-abuse order against Daniel Snee, 21.[…]

When police arrived, the young man was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, she said.

Charged with disorderly conduct…and branded a front-runner for this year’s Darwin Awards, no doubt. That is, assuming young Daniel hasn’t already been fitted for a lovely new pair of cement shoes by some of Paulie’s less reputable associates.

NBC Universal to launch horror network

No, they won’t be airing old episodes of “Joey,” “Stark Raving Mad,” or other failed NBC sitcoms; the new net will be a cross-platform distribution channel for real, good old-fashioned horror fare:

The company is planning Chiller, a horror-themed network that will exist as a standard and HD cable channel, a VOD package and a broadband Website.

Chiller, which is slated to launch March 1 and already has carriage on DirecTV, will use for its programming old horror TV shows and movies from the Universal library and others. Titles include the TV shows Twin
Peaks and Tales From the Crypt and movies The Shining, Psycho and The Birds.

Of course, the new net will consist entirely of recycled content, and will not be without its competitors (including Comcast’s FearNet, as well as much of SciFi’s programming). Thus, the question remains: will viewers tune in to Chiller for more than “a damn fine cup of coffee” with their friends in Twin Peaks?
