Did someone say “spoon”…?

Coming August 29th…but it’s not being called “Season 1” because it’s missing one episode. It remains unexplained at present which episode is being pulled out of the set and why, but it was apparently a last-second decision, as there have been some press releases which reference this being a full-season set.

Oh, well. Maybe we’ll get a single-episode disc released at some point in the future, entitled “The Episode They Didn’t Want You To See!”

To keep you going ’til the next season of “Lost”…

…consider picking up one of the new action figures from McFarlane Toys based on the show. According to the company’s site, the first series of figures “captures six fan-favorite characters from the series’ first season: Jack, Kate, Locke, Hurley, Charlie and Shannon. Each 6-inch ‘Lost’ figure will have a detailed base and photographic backdrop, capturing an episode-specific moment in the character’s story.”

I think everyone’s going to want their very own Hurley…but, thus far, the only figure available for viewing is Charlie. Looks pretty damned good, I have to say…

Check it out here.

Jack Black back on the attack

Even as his fans get all giddy about the impending release of “Nacho Libre” and, in a few months, the Tenacious D movie, Jack Black is preparing for his next picture.

Written by Michael Gondry (“The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”), the film – according to VH-1 – “will follow a junkyard worker (Black) who is convinced that a local power plant is gaining influence over his brain. When he attempts to sabotage the plant, the resulting magnetic field erases all the tapes in the video store where his best friend works. Afraid that the mishap will cost the friend his job, the two become determined to maintain the membership of a little old lady who is the store’s only loyal customer. Enlisting the help of anyone they can find, the group sets out to re-enact every movie that she decides to rent — including ‘Robocop,’ ‘The Lion King’ and ‘Back to the Future’ — filming each one themselves and passing it off to her as the original version.”

Please, Movie Gods, let this be even half as funny as it sounds…

Penn Jillette ups the ante in the crazy baby name game

pennwithwife

Since naming his first child Moxie Crimefighter was clearly not distinctive enough in the age of Pilot Inspektor Riesgraf Lee and Suri L.Ron Hubbard Cruise, magician Penn Jillette and his wife have named their newborn son Zolten…which sounds like either an evil robot or some kind of pharmaceutical. According to Jillette, the name is actually his wife’s maiden name, and, “most importantly, it’s the name of Dracula’s dog.”

If it’s true that that which does not kill you makes you stronger, expect Jillette’s kids to grow up very strong indeed, as they will both be receiving playground beatings on a daily basis. On the bright side, at least Moxie Crimefighter should be fully capable of keeping herself off the pole, unlike Geri Halliwell’s poor child.

“Dr. 90210” or Federal Air Marshall?

Dr. Robert Rey, better known to reality TV fans as the uber-vain “Dr. 90210,” helped to restrain an elderly man who got out of his seat and shoved a flight attendant just prior to landing.

Dr. Robert Rey, a plastic surgeon who practices martial arts, told The Associated Press he got out of his seat and intervened when he heard the man make a “big noise” as he pushed a female flight attendant toward the cockpit.

“When you get a black belt, at that stage your brain just clicks into action,” the doctor said. “I restrained this gentleman in a very aggressive way without hurting him.”

I was wondering how long it would take for him to mention his black belt.
