A crappy disaster remake and a crappy Lindsay Lohan movie. Take your pick.

Actually, I’d much rather go for a second-helping of “M:I-3,” even if it does mean that I have to put up with Tom Cruise’s crazy mug for another two hours. At least it’s not another disaster movie, or another romantic comedy. And while both films have some nice eye candy to stare at (Lohan in “Just My Luck” and Emmy Rossum in “Poseidon“), it’s just not enough to persuade me to spend ten of my very hard-earned dollars. Then again, Touchstone’s soccer drama, “Goal! The Dream Begins,” is probably worth the pocket change, and if you’re in LA/NY, you might want to think about checking out the Brit revenge flick “Dead Man’s Shoes.”

King of Queens to marry Jester of Brooklyn

In a development that sent shockwaves through Carson Kressley, David Geffen, Tom Cruise, and the rest of Hollywood’s gay elite, Kevin James has announced his intention to marry Adam Sandler…at least onscreen.

Sandler and James will play heterosexual firefighters who pretend to be a gay couple and marry for insurance reasons in “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry,” according to recent reports.

But will the meddling royal family actually allow the King of Queens to marry someone from Brooklyn? And does this make Sandler’s newborn child the heir to the throne under current rules of succession?

DVD shuffle: 05/09/06

Out on DVD this week:

1) Munich – BUY: It’s a real shame that this film was released when it was, going up against other nominees like “Brokeback Mountain” and “Crash” at the Oscars, because it would have had a much better chance any other year.

2) Grandma’s Boy – PASS: Ever wonder why gamers get such a bad rep? This is it.

3) The New World – PASS: I’m not even going to waste my time coming up with something witty to say about this movie. It sucked… real bad. Period.

4) Rumor Has It – RENT: I haven’t gotten around to checking this one out yet (it’s sitting on top of my DVD player as we speak), but I’m confident that it’ll be worth checking out at least once for the cast alone.

Also out this week are special editions of “Ronin,” “The Poseidon Adventure,” “The Towering Inferno,” and “Earthquake,” as well as new season releases of “Scrubs,” “The West Wing,” “Everybody Loves Raymond,” “That 70s Show,” and “The Golden Girls.”
