Farm animals, Marines offer a helping hand

In what’s been an already disappointing year for the movie industry, the Holiday season will have a lot of catching up to do to turn this box office train wreck around. That being said, it looks like it may just get a helping hand in the first week of November with the release of the Gulf War drama “Jarhead” and the Disney animated film “Chicken Little.” Both movies should prove to do very well amongst their respective audiences, with positive reviews pouring in every day, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see “Saw 2” in the number one spot again after all of the positive buzz it’s received.

The good, the bad, the sequels

Bullz-Eye.com recently ran its list of movie history’s Best & Worst Sequels. Some of the favorites included “Rocky III,” “Toy Story II,” “Batman Begins,” “Lord of the Rings: Return of the King” and “The Godfather: Part II.” Meanwhile, train wrecks like “Jaws: The Revenge,” “Blues Brothers 2000,” “Caddyshack II” and “Speed 2: Cruise Control” made the worst list.

I want to know how “Christmas Vacation,” “The Matrix Reloaded” and “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle” were merely listed in the “Also Receiving Votes” section.

Now that’s bloody cool

With the recent theatrical release of “Saw 2,” it seems only necessary that a Special Edition DVD of the original movie would make its way into stores, but the new single-disc release is actually one of the better double dips I’ve seen in a while. Not only does it feature tons more special features than the original disc (a key component in using the “special” title), but it also boasts one of the coolest DVD covers in the history of the medium. Packaged in a slim digipack case, the front cover has an additional layer with fake blood that moves around, and a tiny little buzz saw that spins as well.
