“Mommy XXX” learns about “Female Parts”

Taking one’s daughter to her first gynecologist’s visit isn’t something any parent looks forward to. But what about when you’re a former porn star who has more experience with the, uh, plumbing than most moms? Find out the answer to that question in “Female Parts,” the latest episode of “Mommy XXX,” the Crackle reality series that follows adult star Demi Delia as she navigates the treacherous waters of single parenthood. AskMen’s Great Male Survey names the summer’s best movie: “None.”

It’s that time of year again, fellas — yes, AskMen.com has compiled the data for its annual Great Male Survey, crunched the numbers, and published the results. If you want to put your finger on the pulse of what dudes are thinking, look no further — and if you’ve been feeling like this year’s crop of summer blockbusters is one of the least exciting to come out of Hollywood in recent memory, you can at least take solace in the knowledge that most of the guys who responded to the survey agree with you. Yes, it’s sad but true: When asked to name the movie of the summer so far, 39 percent of respondents answered “None.” Here’s how it all broke down:

Q. What has been the best summer movie of 2009 to date?
39% – None
28% – Star Trek
21% – Transformers II
08% – X-Men Origins: Wolverine
04% – Terminator Salvation

Not exactly good news for the folks who depend on cash registers ringing at the cineplex — and it doesn’t get any better for the rest of the summer, either. When asked to identify the film they were most eagerly anticipating, 26 percent of respondents answered “Public Enemies,” whose generally lukewarm reviews and good-but-not-great box office returns have been something of a letdown for Universal. In second place, with 22 percent? That bastard “None.”

26% – Public Enemies
22% – None
18% – Bruno
18% – G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
16% – Inglourious Basterds

So guys aren’t happy with what has been in theaters this summer, and they aren’t happy about what’s going to be in theaters — so where’s the silver lining for Hollywood? Well, if you’re in the network business, or worried about warding off the TV ratings drift toward streaming Web content, you’ll be happy to know that although 75 percent of respondents listed their computer monitor as the screen they spend the most time in front of, 49 percent of them still watch their favorite TV series the old-fashioned way: Episode by episode, as it’s broadcast live. You might be hearing about TiVo, Hulu, and TV on DVD all the time, but if the jump away from live TV is happening, it’s occurring more slowly than you might think.

The worst news, as it turns out, is for the PR flacks that work for Barack Obama and Paris Hilton — the male and female celebs that respondents named as the public figures they’re most tired of hearing about (although, to be fair, Obama tied with — you guessed it — “None”). Overexposure, plain old dislike, or blind button pushing? Ken Marino is in “The State” of DVD bliss

Ken Marino is a busy working actor — his recent gigs include stints on the CW’s unjustly slain “Reaper” and the Starz Network’s “Party Down” — and is doubtless usually too focused on whatever project’s in front of him to look back. This week, however, sees the long-sought DVD release of “The State,” the sketch comedy series that Marino (along with Michael Ian Black, David Wain, Joe Lo Truglio, Thomas Lennon, Ben Garant, and many more) did for MTV way back in the young and innocent ’90s. Never a huge ratings success, “The State” has nonetheless acquired cult status in the years since its cancellation, and its arrival on the home market is the answer to many fans’ prayers — making Will Harris’ recently conducted interview with Marino something of a “State” retrospective (and a perfectly timed one, at that). As it turns out, Ken hasn’t seen those old episodes in years — and wasn’t all that hopeful about seeing them on DVD:

“David (Wain) kind of headed the campaign to get it done, and he dealt with the outside forces that were trying to put it together or to block it or whatever, so I would just get E-mail updates. At a certain point, I just got numb to that. I was just, like, ‘Oh, it’s never gonna happen.'”

Reminiscing about his State days, Marino opened up about the writing process, the troupe’s battles with MTV, the origins of the infamous phrase “I want to dip my balls in it,” and the long-lost album the State recorded for Warner Bros.:

“”From what I remember, it’s a drunken mess. We were, like, ‘Okay, if we take all our money and get tickets and go to the Bahamas to record it at a recording studio down there, we won’t really make any money, but we’ll be in the Bahamas for two weeks. You wanna do that?’ If you listen closely on a number of the pieces, you’ll hear ice in our glasses making noise, because we were constantly drinking whatever local flavored drinks were around.”

Lisa Lackey talks Season Four of “Heroes” — and more

She may not be a household name — not here in the States yet, anyway — but Lisa Lackey has a list of television and film credits as long as your arm, and with her recurring gig on NBC’s faded-but-still-popular “Heroes,” she’s a familiar face to the faithful who have continued tuning in to track the serialized adventures of TV’s most angst-ridden superpowered humans. If you only know her as the mutant-spawning wife of Greg Grunberg’s “Heroes” character, however, you need to acquaint yourself with the rest of Lackey’s work — and her recent chat with Bullz-Eye’s Will Harris is the perfect place to start, because she discusses her appearances on projects as varied as the syndicated “New Adventures of Flipper,” the late, lamented Showtime series “Rude Awakening,” and David Lynch’s “Mulholland Drive.” As well as, of course, Season Four of “Heroes” — as much as she can discuss, anyway:

“I’m just so excited about Season 4, because it looks like it’s going to be even more interesting than even Season 1, in terms of my character and what’s going to happen. Not that I know that much. Not that they tell you anything!”

Okay, so maybe that isn’t much. But there was still plenty to talk about, including what it was like to work with a young Jessica Alba on “Flipper,” the unique stress of showing up for your first day on a David Lynch set, and how it feels for an Australian actress to be asked if she can be more Australian:

“How do you be ‘more Australian’? I wasn’t born in the back of the Outback. I was born in Sydney, I grew up in a city, I moved to the farm when I was bit older, but I still don’t speak like…I mean, I don’t think I’ve ever said ‘mate’ in my entire life!”

“Mommy XXX”: Taking “MILF” to its logical conclusion

She’s gone from the pages of Playboy to a successful adult film career that (ahem) climaxed in her marriage to fellow porn star Randy Spears. Now that she’s a single parent with two kids to raise, what’s left for Demi Delia to do? You guessed it — she’s gone and become the focus of “Mommy XXX,” a Crackle.com reality show which proves that just because you’ve appeared on “Baywatch” and “Playboy’s Girls of Summer,” that doesn’t mean you don’t have to contend with ordinary, average life problems.
