Last night the final two on “Hell’s Kitchen,” Petrozza and Christina, got a glimpse of what life may be like for them if they win, and become an executive chef at Gordon Ramsay’s new Hollywood restaurant. And one thing became clear–both of them, as nice as they appear on the outside, have a burning desire to win this thing. How could they not after coming this far?

They started out by recapping the first thirteen weeks of the season. Yikes, has it been going on this long? There were contestants eliminated that I barely remembered, and both Christina and Petrozza had been close to leaving at various points in the show. They also went back to that first show of the season, when they had to cook a signature dish, and Petrozza’s was “hen in a pumpkin.” How hilarious, and how amazing that he’s come this far.

The two chefs were told they had to create their own menu, as for the finale each would have their part of the kitchen which would represent their own restaurant. They also had to choose a design theme and even choose what type of outfits the staff would be wearing.

Then Ramsay flew them both to New York City in a private jet, where they got to see their name in lights in Times Square. He then took them to one of his many restaurants, where they had to prepare a signature dish for five of Ramsay’s executive chefs from all over the world. Those five chefs would judge who wins this challenge. Petrozza made a filet of beef with caramelized onion risotto, which begs the question…why didn’t he make this dish instead of hen in a pumpkin? Christina also made beef…a New York strip with potatoes and succotash…very fresh and vibrant, and right up Ramsay’s alley. It was close, but Petrozza won the challenge, and his reward was that he can choose first for his kitchen staff which would be made up of eliminated contestants.

They arrived back in Los Angeles, and Christina had some problems with the design that need to be worked out. Then they began to choose their teams from among these former contestants–Bobby, Ben, LouRoss, Corey, Jen and Matt. Petrozza chose Bobby and Ben, Christina chose Corey and LouRoss. That left Jen and Matt, both of who are not necessarily team players and are going to make life difficult for whoever chooses them.

And that’s where they left off. But the finale is next Tuesday, because the preview showed Petrozza and Christina behind the doors, one of which will open and make them the next Gordon Ramsay employee.

I told Mrs. Mike that I have a weird feeling that they are both going to win. Maybe that’s far-fetched, but maybe not. Either way, both of them are good cooks and good people, at least that’s how they appear on camera. And they both want to win badly, so this finale is going to be interesting. See you next week!
