Peter Jackson has proven himself time and again as a very able director (see: Academy Award for “LOTR: Return of the King“), but is it possible that “King Kong” may be too much for even him to handle? The trailer has recieved mixed reaction from audiences, with many betting on a major flop at the box office, but have these people seen the same trailer that I saw? The film looks absolutely amazing, with a great cast and incredible special FX, and aside from its three-hour runtime, there isn’t much else to complain about. Sure, with a budget topping $200 million, the chances of it being a major financial success are extremely limited, but I’d rather sit through a great holiday picture than worry about how much the box office is suffering.
