Last night’s “Hell’s Kitchen” featured the final 8 contestants squaring off. Is it just me, or is this season of the show dragging a bit? Anyway, with Ben being eliminated last week, the blue team needed someone from the red team to switch sides and even things out. Jen stepped forward, making the teams Jen/LouRoss/Petrozza/Bobby and Christina/Matt/Corey/Roseann.

At the challenge, in which the contestants had to cook four meals with 20 ingredients, the blue team was having trouble working together. Meanwhile, Matt cut off the tip of his thumb, but taped himself up and continued to work. I’m still mad at the producers for showing us Matt’s bloody stump of a thumb, but I guess I’ll get over it. In the end, LouRoss could not plate his odd surf & turf dish of veal and fish properly. So he left off the veal, meaning his team used 19 ingredients instead of 20, and they took the loss. The blue team had to do the restaurant’s laundry, while the red team had a photo shoot with In Touch Magazine.

At the dinner service, two food critics were in attendance, but the chefs didn’t know which table they were at. Those critics would ultimately choose the winner of the evening. The red team was having trouble getting on track, with Christina and Roseann failing miserably. Stumpy Matt wasn’t at his best either. The blue team, though, started working together and the critics were more impressed with their food. Ramsay selected Corey as the best of the worst, and asked her to nominate two teammates for elimination. She chose Matt and Roseann, and Ramsay asked Christina to also step forward.

Then, Ramsay did something weird…he told Roseann to get back in line, leaving Matt and Christina on the chopping block (no pun intended, Matt). And then he said the person he was sending home was….Roseann. Okay, I know you want to change things up, but that was pretty confusing.

Still, any of the three of them would have been a good choice. And has anyone noticed that Bobby, who was almost eliminated in Week 1, is quietly hanging around? Hmmm. Same with Petrozza, who Ramsay seems to have a soft spot for. If anything, the fact that this is so up in the air makes us all have to watch, even if we turn away from bloody thumbs.
