Can “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” continue its incredible run at the box office, or will this weekend’s new releases take the wind out of its sails? I’d like to vote for the former, since the only films opening on Friday include the god-awful “You, Me and Dupree” and the latest Wayans brothers flick, “Little Man.”
The urban comedy genre has an audience all its own, so while “Little Man” may pull in a respectable opening weekend take, it’s hardly going to interfere with Johnny Depp and Co. as they attempt to smash yet another record (biggest 14-day opening, fastest to $200 million, or something silly like that). “You, Me and Dupree,” on the other hand, is very capable of stealing “Pirates” thunder, but I wouldn’t bet on it. With a majority of the reviews running before opening day, let’s all hope that it’s enough to discourage anyone actually paying to see this piece of crap.
