Comedian Richard Jeni, 45, has apparently died of suicide. The entertainer shot himself in the face, was found barely alive by his girlfriend and died shortly thereafter at the hospital. An investigation into his death is continuing.

Jesus, that’s terrible. I always liked that guy and thought he was hilarious. I never understood why his career didn’t take off like Kevin Pollak’s; he could’ve been a great character actor like Pollak. I will, say, however, that the picture of Jeni at the article you’ve linked to has him looking like death warmed over already. Talk about sunken eyes…
Yeah, it’s too bad. It seems like every now and then a comic just goes right over the edge for whatever reason and leaves way too early. And that picture is pretty ghastly, indeed. I always liked Richard as well, even when he was doing voiceovers for Staples commercials.
I’m stunned. Jeni was a funny, funny guy, and he will be missed. Living is the best revenge, people! When will you realize it?
