Ron White hearts Dane Cook. No wait, scratch that… he hates Dane Cook
A friend of Ron White’s tells him that Ron’s girlfriend said sometimes, she just wanted to stab him. Then the friend tried to soften the blow by saying, “Well, she was drunk.” Ron says, “Fuck, that’s the only time I tell the truth!”
Though it was only 10:00 in the morning on the west coast when Bullz-Eye chatted with Ron White, he must have been drunk, because he positively lays into Dane Cook towards the end of the conversation. A sample:
BE: Mitch Hedberg seems to be one of those comedians’ comedian. Dane Cook was talking about how much he loved him, and…
RW: Who?
BE: Dane Cook?
RW: Who’s that?
BE: Dane Cook is a wildly popular comedian. He’s a Boston guy, but he spends a lot of time in L.A. He just hosted “Saturday Night Live” recently. Very manic, funny guy. Very nice. He was pretty broken up about Mitch Hedberg as well.
RW: Did he know him?
BE: Not intimately. I think they were acquaintances, but I don’t know if it was any deeper than that.
RW: I was kidding, I know who Dane Cook is.
BE: I was gonna say, I was hoping you were pulling my leg.
RW: (He) does not make me laugh, at all, in any way, shape or form.
BE: Huh.
RW: It looks like smoke and mirrors. But it works for him, so…
White goes on to call Cook out for exaggerating about his album sales, putting down the Blue Collar guys, and putting himself in the same league as Bill Cosby. Harsh stuff, but he also takes the time to send some love to Lisa Lampanelli, Jim Gaffigan, and even found nice things to say about the girl who wanted to stab him; apparently, she could suck a golf ball through a straw, which is a pretty valuable skill for a woman to possess if she’s nuts.

Dane Cook is much funnier than Ron White and any of those Blue Collar shlubs. Consider yourself lucky that anyone laughs at your stuff, Ron.
He does have a good point that Dane isn’t much of a joke teller. And it’s patently unfair to compare Ron to any of the other Blue Collar guys. They don’t hold a candle to him.
Ron is better than the Blue Collar comedians he hangs out with, but Dane Cook is good in his own right. He comes up with some crazy stories.

Dane Cook sucks. Ron White isn’t the only one to call him out for sucking. Many people have called out “Lame Crook” for stealing some of his material! That lame-ass is lucky to be as famous as he his! Period.

It’s sad that people associate comedy with loud incoherent ranting. Haven’t we heard these stories enough at college parties? Comedy isn’t telling stories; we all have crazy anecdotes we tell at the dinner table, but stuff like that isn’t made for comedy. Even if you try to play them out with aimless pacing and constant voice inflexions, it still does not make the material funny. I applaud Ron White for his cynical yet smart humor, and other “actual” comedians that put rational thoughts and punchlines into their humor. Dane Cook, much like any figurehead of MTV, has been imprinted into the mainstream media and presented to be funny, in an attempt for Comedy Central to reach a younger audience. Instead he pollutes the image of comedy and steals jokes that he can stretch for 60 min at a time. Anyone can do what dane cook does if you have a decent face, a bag of meth, and ADD. Get off the stage, you fucking hack.
saw Ron @ Verizon Theater this month. Not funny. However, in fairness, a woman fell off the upstairs balcony. May have effected Ron’s mood. He told old jokes re: airline profiling & security color warnings. I was dissapointed.

Ron White is pretty funny. So is Dane Cook. They’re different, but guys, its COMEDY! Dane Cook worked his ass off, made it huge, good for him. No need to be bitter. Yeah Danes routine is absolutely way more about his delivery and energy the other day, but if you took away Ron White’s scotch and smokes on stage, and his whole overdoing the redneck demeanor, you get the same thing you’d get if you took away Danes all over the place banter. NOTHING. What makes every comedian unique is their personality. Everyone wants to shit on dane cook for making it huge, but if they gave ron a chance to headline madison square garden, somehow I think he’d take it. By the way, I’ll take Dane cooks “lack of a punchline” comedy over that blue collar comedy crap.
